About Yoga

Yoga means "to yoke" or bring together and is an ancient holistic practice that unites mind, body and spirit. The practice of hatha yoga uses a series of exercises that provide a framework to learn mental balance and concentration along with physical stamina and flexibilty. To accomplish this, yoga involves physical poses known as "asanas" and the use of breathing and meditation techniques. By attending regular yoga classes, students have time to focus on breathing and postures that improve health.

I really enjoyed the class Tuesday. I have to admit I felt a little uncomfortable at first -- trying yoga at home in my living room is a different feeling than doing it in a room full of strangers. But as the class went on I felt more comfortable. I really enjoyed the unstructured nature of the class -- not a "do pose A, now Pose B" approach. I also really liked your interaction with everyone and the personal attention. It was a very relaxing, encouraging atmosphere and I'm looking forward to the rest of the sessions. I've been doing a couple of the poses from this week with my daily yoga at home. The cat/cow pose has helped a lot with the tension that I tend to carry in my upper back and shoulders. Karen
